Elastane Spandex

About Elastane (Spandex)

Elastane fibers are among the synthetic chemical fibers.

The main raw material for the production of the fibers is petroleum. Elastane fibers are better known under the brand names Lycra and Dorlastan. The fiber invented in Germany in 1937 has characteristics for which there is no model in nature. Their most important characteristic is their high stretchability combined with an exceptionally high tensile strength.

Therefore, Elastane is added in most sportswear; and only in a slight quantity is needed.
